First came to Iowa 1849, returned to Iowa City 1854.
Served in US land office.
During Civil War was clerk and auditor of Johnson county.
First cashier of Iowa City Branch State Bank until 1877.
Then partner with Samuel J. Kirkwood as Cox & Kirkwood, real estate and loan.
Married at Iowa City 1856.
Died April 25, 1897.
