Born January 22, 1822, native of Ohio.
Parents moved to Clay County, Indiana in 1837, to Jefferson County, Iowa in 1844, and to Boone County, Iowa May 14, 1846 as one of the county's first families (pioneers).
Married Catharine Crooks June 23, 1839.
Four children: Elizabeth (wife of A. Beach), George C., and Sarah M. (wife of H. D. Nutt).
