Born on the paternal homestead June 30, 1860.
Educated in district schools.
Removed to Iowa in 1879 and clerked for six years, then returned to Highland County and settled on part of the Linn estate in 1886.
Married Luella Bumgarner, who died 1885 leaving two children, David and a second.
