Born in Bavaria October 16, 1810.
Emigrated to America 1853, came to Iowa City fall 1854, then to Big Grove township.
Bought 200 acres in 1865.
Made most of the brick for the Catholic Church in Solon.
Married March 7, 1845, to Catherine Baker, also of Bavaria.
Seven children: John, Joseph, Elizabeth, Jacob, Annie, Katie, and Rosa.
