Removed from Indiana to Iowa in 1849, settling in Douglas township, Appanoose county, where he preempted a claim and eventually owned nearly two thousand acres.
Extensive stock trader and real-estate dealer.
Built the Methodist Episcopal church at Salem.
Wife was a native of Kentucky.
